Podivin, Czech Republic

 

General

    Podivin is located in southern Moravia.  The earliest Jewish community in the town dates from the 15th century.  The Jewish population in 1930 was about 200.  The postcard below depicts the synagogue in Podivin.  This synagogue was representative of a style of masonry synagogue common in eastern Europe.
