Marianske Lazne,Czech Republic

 

General

    Marianske Lazne (German- Marienbad) is a spa and town in western Bohemia.  Jews first settled in the town in 1820.  The Jewish community was about 400 in 1930.  By the time of the Nazi takeover in 1938, most of the Jews had left the town.  The synagogue depicted in the postcard below was destroyed by the Nazis and is now a park.
