Epernay is a town in the Marne department, northern France, about 17 miles from Reims. The Jewish community in the town dates from the Middle Ages. At the start of the war, there were about 40 Jewish families in the town. The synagogue in Epernay (consecrated in 1890 and destroyed by the Nazis)) is depicted below in the postcard postmarked 1906.
