Organisation Todt was the organization in Germany for large scale construction work. The organization was named after its founder Dr. Fritz Todt and was taken over by Albert Speer after Todt's death in a plane crash in 1942. By 1944, the organization employed almost 1,400,000 persons, including over a million foreign workers and prisoners of war. The organization worked on coastal fortifications and the large missle and plane works at Nordhausen.
