The first is a postcard (postmarked November 29, 1944) was sent from the civilian worker camp "Schwatzenberg" in Leipzig to Tobrwinow, Poland. The second is a postcard dated April 29, 1941, from the forced labor camp connected with the Hugo Schneider Plant at Leipzig. The card bears the cachet of the camp indicating that it was a "Polenlager", i.e its inmates were primarily Polish. The third is a postcard postmarked December 28,1944, from an inmate at the Gemeinschaftslager Schwarzer Weg. Below are thumbnails of the front and back of a postcard written by a Ostarbeiter (worker from the East) housed at I.G. Gemeinschaftslager III in Ludwigshafen, a center of German war industry in the lower Rhine region. These laborers worked for I.G. Farben whose exploitation of foreign forced labor (and slave labor contracted for from concentration camps) was second only to Krupp. The postcard bears a pre-printed return label with house and room number spaces. It is postmarked Ludwigshafen, April, 1942, and is addressed to a factory worker in Grenoble, France.
