Modliborzyce, Poland

 

General

    Modliborzyce was a village in the district of Lublin. The Ghetto was inhabited by the Jews from the town and Vienna. In June, 1942, the Ghetto had about 2,200 inhabitants. During the liquidation of the Ghetto in October, 1942, the prisoners were transported to Krasnik and from there to the Belzec death camp.

Postcards

    Below are thumbnails of the front and back of three postcards.  The first is a postcard postmarked May 26, 1941, from the ghetto to Vienna. The card contains a "GHETTO" cachet and a "Modliborzyce" cachet.  The second postcard is a postcard dated Janaury 3, 1942, from Modliborzyce to Italy. The card contains a 3 line Judenrat cachet.  The third postcard is a postcard postmarked May 28, 1942, from the ghetto with the cachet of the Jewish Committee in Modliborzyce to the "Relico" Committee in Geneva acknowledging receipt of a parcel.  Please click on the thumbnail to see the full image, and then click your back key or "Postcards" in the left frame to return.
