Konskie was a town in the Lodz district of Poland. A Judenrat was established soon after the Germans occupied the town. A ghetto housing about 7,500 Jews was created in the spring of 1940. During November, 1942, most of the Jews were moved to Szydlowiec and then sent to the Treblinka death camp. The remaining Jews were sent to Treblinka in January, 1943. In all, about 10,000 persons passed through the ghetto.
Below is a thumbnail of cover of the Judenrat in Konskie addressed to the Judenrat in Litzmannstadt.
Below are thumbnails of the front and back of a postcard sent from Konskie by a person named Tarnowska to the Judenrat in the Lodz ghetto, postmarked July 16, 1941. On the front is a handwritten Judenrat notation and a Judenrat handstamp. The message inquires about a family member. There is a handwritten reply in green.
