Biecz, Poland

 

General

    Biecz is a city south of Tarnow. Germans entered the town on September 7, 1939.  The ghetto was created in April, 1942, and liquidated in August of the same year. There were about 1,000 Jews in the ghetto. During the liquidation, the sick and the old were murdered, and the remainder, some 700 people, were sent to Belzec.

Postcard

    Below are the thumbnails of the front and back of a postcard dated August 28, 1940, from Biecz to Krakau. The writer, Israel Goldberg, is registering his move from Krakau to the ghetto in "Biecz bei Jaslo".
